1. The Information We Collect

We keep our data collection minimal to focus on learning. We collect:

  • Account Basics: Name and email (of the parent/guardian) and a chosen username for the student.
  • Educational Profile: Current grade level and a "Knowledge Map" (a summary of which K-12 topics the student has mastered or is currently learning).
  • Interaction Data: Text or voice transcripts of the conversations between the student and the AI Tutor.
  • Payment Info: Processed securely via Stripe; we do not store credit card numbers on our servers.

2. How We Use This Information

  • Personalized Tutoring: The AI uses the Knowledge Map to ensure it doesn't repeat old lessons and challenges the student appropriately.
  • Progress Tracking: To show parents and students how much they've learned over time.
  • Improving the AI: We do not use any of your data to improve our AI system.

3. AI & Automated Decision-Making (ADMT)

Under 2026 regulations (including California's Transparency in Frontier AI Act), we must disclose:

  • Bot Identification: You are always interacting with an AI, not a human.
  • Logic Explanation: Our AI makes decisions on what topic to teach next based on your "Knowledge Map." If you feel a lesson is incorrect for your level, you can request a manual reset of your profile.
  • No High-Stakes Profiling: Our AI is for tutoring only. It is not used to determine school admissions, credit scores, or legal eligibility.

4. Special Section: For Parents (COPPA Compliance)

Because we serve K-12 students, we take extra steps to protect kids:

  • Parental Consent: We require a parent or guardian to create the account and provide consent before a child under 13 uses the AI.
  • No Tracking: We do not sell student data to third parties or use it for targeted advertising.
  • Parental Review: At any time, parents can log in to view their child's chat history or request that all data be deleted.

5. Your Rights & Data Control

You are the boss of your data. You have the right to:

  • Access & Export: Download a copy of your Knowledge Map and chat history.
  • The Right to be Forgotten: Delete your account and all associated data instantly.
  • Correction: Fix any inaccuracies in the student's educational profile.
